Are you ready for the crossover?

While preparing for Bible Study this past Monday, I decided to reread 2 Kings from the beginning and the following verses resonated with me in a new way.

"Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground. And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, 'Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?' Elisha said, 'Please let a double portion of your spirit upon me.'" - 2 Kings 2:8-9

But wait there's more...

"Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, 'Where is the LORD God of Elijah?' And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over." - 2 Kings 2:14

Elijah had come to the end of his tenure as a prophet of God in Israel, and his servant/successor, Elisha was fully aware that the LORD was about to take him away. Still, Elisha didn't let that stop him from following Elijah to every destination that the LORD sent him to during the last leg of his journey. As a matter of fact, he refused to leave Elijah's side and was there to witness the moment when a chariot of fire took Elijah away. But right before his departure, Elijah gave Elisha the opportunity to ask him for anything at which point Elisha responded that he wanted a double portion of Elijah's spirit. And then he crossed over and the very thing that Elisha asked for had come to pass.

Are you ready for the crossover?

That's what I heard in my spirit when I read 2 Kings 2 earlier this week. Per the Merriam-Webster dictionary, one of the definitions of crossover is "an instance of breaking into another category". In other words, are you ready to break into another category? I guess what I'm trying to say is, get ready. Because those that are in Christ Jesus and doing the will of the Father are about to crossover at the appointed time (some already have) based on the word of the LORDĀ for their life.

Here's a short video of me processing what I heard. Feel free to share your thoughts and comments below.Ā
