I'm rereading the book of Isaiah again and came across a verse in chapter 44 that I simply underlined the first time around but hit me like a ton of bricks when I read it after prayer this morning.
"Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb: 'I am the LORD, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself... who confirms the word of His servant, and performs the counsel of His messengers'" - Isaiah 44:24-26
Although I already knew that the Father confirms the word of His servants, what I didn't know is that He also accepts the counsel (i.e. advice, plan) of His messengers too. In addition to the angels being messengers for God, we also know from scripture that the LORD uses people to deliver prophetic messages as well. However, now that I know He accepts counsel from those that He sends messages through, it makes even more sense why there's so much emphasis on prayer in the Bible. See, prayer isn't merely communicating with the Father but also sharing our thoughts about a matter too and what I've learned from the people, places, and things that I've made intercession for over the last few years is that if what we're saying to God is right, then He will perform what we've said because He is righteous.
Intercession is explaining to God why He should intervene.
Honestly, when that thought entered my mind earlier this week, I wasn't aware that there was a verse like Isaiah 44:26 proving why we should never feel like God doesn't consider our perspective. Intercession is in many ways like giving advice to the Father where you use scripture appropriately to support your cause while also reminding Him of what He's done before. And because I want His plan to come to pass (I'll admit that this wasn't always the case), I approach Him in prayer as if what I'm praying for is a part of His plan unless the Holy Spirit tells me otherwise. Plus, I have no issue going back to him multiple times regarding a person or a situation because I know that the LORD values faith and diligence.
As we prepare to crossover into 2025, I encourage you to learn how to make intercession and to stay on a matter in prayer. Intercession is the key that will open and close many doors in this new era of God's glory, and you don't want to misplace your gaze being distracted with nonsense only to be left wondering whether God is able to do just what He said He can do. Make up your mind before the new year that you believe what Jesus said about all things being possible with God (Matthew 19:26) and with a heart of humility and thanksgiving, I urge you to give Him no rest until He performs His word.
