Time is of the essence

Time is of the essence

Now is not the time to laugh in unbelief like Sarah did.

"And the LORD said to Abraham, 'Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?' Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.'” - Genesis 18:13-14

Now is not the time to take matters in your own hands because you've let anxiousness or impatience set in and you're afraid that God won't show up.

"then I said, ‘The Philistines will now come down on me at Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the LORD. Therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering.' And Samuel said to Saul, 'You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you.'" - 1 Samuel 13:12-13

Now is not the time to grow weary in well-doing and doze off while you're on assignment.

"Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, 'What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.'” - Matthew 26:40-41

The LORD has done great things for all of us and I believe that He wants to do greater for each of us, so there's no need to compare yourself to other people and wonder if He has forgotten about you (Hebrews 13:5). However, could it be that you've forsaken Him or His instruction while you wait on the LORD to perform His word in your life? Recently, the Holy Spirit impressed this truth upon my heart.

You are land.

As land that belongs to Christ, we're supposed to be fruitful under the watchful eye of our heavenly Father (1 Cor. 3:9). Times and seasons are under the authority of God and land that has been adequately cultivated will produce its crop at the appointed time. On the other hand, lack of intimacy with the LORD starves us of what we need to survive and thrive, which is living water (John 4:13-14). A famine is even worse because it indicates extreme hunger and scarcity in a land and Jesus didn't endure the penalty of sin on the cross for us to die from a self-manufactured famine of doubt and disobedience.

Please understand that this isn't condemnation or an accusation of wrongdoing, rather an invitation to search your own heart and get real regarding whether or not Christ is truly your firm foundation. Staggering in unbelief unsure of what God is doing in your life and in the world isn't safe because the future doesn't belong to bystanders but to the faithful who take action in prayer and fasting.
